The work is coming along! This week was excellent! We have been teaching some awesome people, including some families. We have been making a special effort to pray to find families and the Lord is blessing us. One family we have been teaching has the cutest little boy. He's 3 and his name is Necktie! His parents are named Beeb and Gug and are very kind and very young. We taught them about Jesus Christ and the Atonement and the Spirit was strong. Afterward, we got to help serve them by lifting a bunch of bags full of rocks into their tuk-tuk. It was great! We also go to teach their mom too and she seemed very open-hearted to the message as well.
Several of our investigators made it to church this week as well! Our ward is so good at helping with missionary work. They love helping us teach! They're also really friendly and kind to our investigators that come to church.
One man we are teaching is named Simon and he is so cool. He's kind of old and understands very slowly but he has incredible faith. He walks to the church building every Sunday even though it's more than 2 miles away from his house. He's awesome!
I found a great poem while studying this week. It was quoted by President Faust but written by Ralph Waldo Emerson. One thing I've noticed that is very difficult sometimes as a missionary is to understand what a successful missionary is. It's difficult when you work hard and don't always see the outward results. This poem helped define what a successful person is for me and I loved it!
"What is success?
To laugh often and much;To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by
a healthy child, a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed
easier because you have lived;
This is to have succeeded."
