We just had zone conference on Saturday. President and Sister Hammond are amazing people and gave us some great training on how we can be better missionaries. We talked a lot about finding the elect which President Hammond pointed out that aren't "the elect" but they're "God's elect." They are His. He knows them and knows what is best for them. We, as missionaries and members of the church, just need to open our mouths and our eyes to find who they are.
This month we've been focusing on trying to ask everyone for referrals. We met an older man and he was clearly uninterested but after asking who else he might know who would be interested he told us his neighbor is Christian and he took us to his apartment room then pointed to his neighbor's door. We knocked on the door (my first doorstep approach!) and a lady came to the door and asked what we wanted. We explained who we were and she opened the door all the way and excitedly told us she was Christian. She said her church just moved locations and she has been praying for a new church to go to. She asked which church we came from. We said the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She said "ok good. As long as you aren't the Mormons I'll go to your church. I know the Mormons teach false doctrine." We just smiled and nodded. :) It was a really cool miracle though! We have an appointment to go back and teach her this week so wish us luck with this lady!
We also met a guy around our age named File. He was super nice and wanted to meet with us. He's about 22 and is taking care of his younger sister and going to school. He's such a nice guy and very open-hearted. We taught him and his sister the restoration and he loved every second of it. After we taught he was so excited to pray about the Book of Mormon. Then we asked who else might be interested and he told us he wants his brother to listen too! We said great! Who else do you know? Then ge said his girlfriend is Christian and she would want to listen too! We said, "awesome! Who else do you know?" He said he has some other friends he wants us to meet! So cool! The Restoration has such amazing power and I love teaching it. We're excited to keep teaching File!
