We had a great week! Getting to a new area is always exciting and different and hard but Asoke is already so incredible. The members here are super invested in missionary work and so excited for the temple. We rode on the sky train a few times throughout this week and when we pull into one station you get a perfect view of the temple site. It's going to be incredible when the temple is done and there's this magnificent building right in the middle of Bangkok. We can't wait! Elder McWhorter and I get along really well and we teach really well together. He is such a hard worker and talks with everybody. He's been a great example to me of being positive as well. I'm really excited about this transfer!
I got to Asoke early Thursday morning then we had a big meeting to kick off our new English program. We have purchased some ads on Facebook, so we should be having lots of people come to our English classes now! We also had a big meeting with all the District Leaders and Zone Leaders where we were all committed to redouble our efforts like it says in D&C 127: "Let the work of my temple, and all the works which I have appointed unto you, be continued on and not cease; and let your diligence, and your perseverance, and patience, and your works be redoubled, and you shall in nowise lose your reward." President shared this verse with everyone and everyone was really excited to keep going and increase our efforts.
We have some very cool people we're teaching. We have a few families that we're meeting with. We ate dinner with one family who has three boys and they all speak English really well. The family is very wealthy from their clothing business. We ate fried chicken and pickled onions which actually tasted kind of like a Cesar salad. The family was really nice and their sons are really interested!
Other highlights:
- helped drop off the missionaries who are finishing their missions at the airport
- helped a member move and sat in the moving van while we drove to her new house
- ate carrot cake with real carrots and lemon frosting which was incredible
- Brother Awe in Don Mueang got baptized! I wasn't there to see it, but I saw pictures and it looked like such a great day!
-Thai name of the week: Bakery
A great verse I read this week was in Joshua 1:9. I was feeling slightly discouraged with the new area and many new responsibilities, but this verse gave a lot of confidence!
