Lots of good things going on in Thailand! This week was great! Being a missionary here is so much fun! I love these people so much and I'm so happy being here.
This week while on a way to an appointment we talked with this really short man who was super nice and invited us back to teach his family because he's Christian already. He started reading the Book of Mormon on his own and was really happy to meet with us again. When we went to his house a few days later we met his wife and she's even shorter than he is but they're such a warm little family! They loved the restoration and accepted a baptismal date for January! It's so awesome teaching families because they can support each other and that's how the church has firm growth.
On Saturday we went to a big English meeting run by an English teacher from the UK. He is a member but doesn't go to church anymore. He gave us some good training on how to improve our English classes but the coolest part was his advice at the end of the training. He served a mission but ended up going home for medical reasons. He said his biggest regret in his life is going home from his mission. Even though he no longer goes to church he still considers his mission one of the best times of his life and he begged each of us to stick it out on our missions. It was really cool to see how much teaching the gospel had impacted him and how much he valued his mission.
We met another man this week while heading home. He seemed super drunk and not super interested in talking to us at all but we left him with a pamphlet and a sort of follow up appointment. A few days later while we were walking in the same neighborhood he pulled up to us on his motorcycle and confirmed his appointment with us and seemed really excited to meet with us again! At the appointment he told us he had prayed and asked God to show him which path is right for him. He was super interested and so excited to learn more! It's so cool how God prepares people and leaves them right in our path.
Thai name if the week: Rabbit
We anxiously set up our Christmas tree after Thanksgiving and we've been listening to Christmas music every day! For the Light the World campaign this year the church is encouraging a worldwide day of service on December 1st! Still not sure what we're going to do for that but we'll figure something out! If anyone feels like they're missing something during Christmas, service is always an answer and always brings good feelings. "Therefore, that we should waste and wear out our lives in bringing to light all the hidden things of darkness, wherein we know them; and they are truly manifest from heaven." I know wasting and wearing out our lives in the service of others will bring happiness!
