This week we found lots of cool new people that want to learn and the best part is that most of them are families! Teaching families is the best thing because they can support one another and once they are baptized they have immediate friends at church. Our ward is super good at fellowshipping though so everybody feels like they have friends anyway!
A family we found this week is made up of a mom and a dad and a 9 year old son. They have been super prepared. They had another child who passed away from a sickness when she was really young and they are still heartbroken. They kept saying how their life isn't fair and how they miss their daughter so much. We felt like they had been perfectly prepared to hear the good news of eternal families. Once we started talking about the resurrection however they shut us down. They said "Nope. We've been waiting for a miracle for 10 years now and haven't seen anything. We won't see our daughter again." That was rough because they needed the gospel so bad! We kept talking to them and kept trying to help them feel something. We eventually asked "Do you want to test God and see if He is real?" And they answered "Yes!" So we taught them how to pray and they totally opened up to the message. They committed to pray as a family and then they came to church the next day! The members just loved them too! I'm so grateful that the Spirit was there to guide us in knowing what to ask them and how we could best help them.
Sister Bang got confirmed yesterday! We were really worried because she wan't answering her phone on Sunday before church but when we walked into the chapel there she was sitting up on the stage waiting patiently about 15 minutes before the meeting. It was so awesome! Her mom has been sick and lives really far away but she wouldn't go visit her mom again until after she had gotten confirmed. Awesome faith!
Thai name of the week: Twins - one is named big, one is named small
We had MLC this week and that was pretty awesome! It's so good to learn from the more experienced Elders and Sisters and especially to learn from President and Sister Hammond. We set a mission wide baptismal goal and it was cool to see President Hammond get revelation for us as a mission. We learned about being instruments in the Lord's hands. The instrument mentioned most in the Book of Mormon is a sword so a sword needs to be sharp and needs to be clean. The Lord needs each of us to be clean and sharp as well so He can use us to carry out His work!
Have an awesome week! Love you all lots!!
