WEEK 47 - JUNE 3, 2018 - PHUKET
This area is so awesome and the people here are even better! This week one of our investigators was baptized! His name is Awoo and his wife and son were baptized a few weeks ago so now the whole family has been baptized! It has been incredible to see how he has changed through these last few weeks! He used to be addicted to some things but he has completely overcome everything! His family is so much closer now and they have more love in their house! Watching him change has helped strengthen my testimony of how the gospel blesses families. When we finished church and were getting ready for the baptism we found out that none of our baptismal clothes would fit him. A few minutes of panic ended when brother Awoo grabbed the small pair of stretchy pants we had and headed towards the bathroom with a strong determined look. He came out with the stretchy pants on, looking very proud and very ready to be baptized! Nothing was going to stop him from being baptized!
This week we went out to meet a potential investigator at his house. When we got there all the lights were on and the TV was on but nobody would come to the door. We talked to his neighbor, an elderly lady, and asked if she knew where he was. She said she'd get him and walked right in his house. She came out a few minutes later saying he was asleep and to come back another time. We said thank you and for some reason we just kind of waited in front of his house for a second, hoping he would wake up and come out. After a few minutes two guys around our age showed up at his house and we talked to them too. They said they'd go get him for us. They also came back out saying he was asleep and to come back. We ended up talking to them for a bit and they agreed to listen to us. We started talking about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and after talking about how we can find peace through Christ one of the boys look strait at me and sincerely asked "Really?" And I was able to look right back and answer yes because I've felt the peace that Christ can bring to us. The two were super interested and then about halfway through talking to them the one guy finally came out! He was also really interested and said a super sincere prayer at the end of the lesson! I can tell now that the Spirit was quietly guiding us to wait in front of his house for a few extra minutes.
Other things we did this week: we helped a sister in our ward move into her new house, biked a lot, ate some ice cream, and taught lots of lessons!
I love being a missionary!
