WEEK 12 - September 24, 2017 - SURIN

Hello family and friends!

Another eventful week! We had some rough parts of the week but we're working our hardest and trying to bring more people to the Savior here in Surin! Few things from this week:

-Saturday night we set aside a lot of time to go contacting and try to get lots of people at church the next day. We went to a night market and as soon as we got there it starts dumping rain on us. Absolutely pouring and Thai people hate the rain so the whole market cleared out in about 15 minutes. And we're still trying to talk to people and nobody is interested. So we decide to head home cause nobody wants to talk when it's raining and we're soaking wet. We got home and decided to call people from Elder Chandler's old planner and two of the people we called turned out to be solid investigators who we got to come to church and got to teach! So that was pretty neat.

- President Johnson gave us permission to go to the Buriram soccer game! Buriram is the best team here and it was way fun to watch! (More pictures and stuff below). We went as a whole district, all 4 of us!

-I had a cool experience last night. I was reading Jesus the Christ and read about the "Peace be still" story. It talks about how the Apostles didn't realize they had the very Son of God in their midst and so they would be protected. I know the Savior is in my midst too. Trials and hard times feel like storms and mighty winds but the Savior is always there to help us. He only allows us to take as much as we can handle and then he's there to help us.

-I failed the TMB challenge after district meeting on Tuesday. The challenge was to eat a whole pizza, 8 scoops of ice cream and 2 packs of Tim Tams. They all said they've never seen someone get so close and not finish it. I almost exploded but it was great fun for the other Elders to watch me struggle!

-On Tuesday after English class we had so many appointments that we had to do a switch off to be able to teach everyone. So me and another member helped teach Earth and I was able to do a lesson basically by myself which was pretty cool! Just me bearing my testimony a lot but it went pretty well!

-Wiw is golden. She comes to church every week and comes to every activity. She is friends with all the members and she's gonna be a strong member! She got confirmed this week and we got to stand in the circle.

-Yes they have baptism clothes that she borrowed.  And yes, they were slightly purple!

-Earth is 20 and we met him while inviting people at a market. He started out way strong but he's struggling now because his parents want him to be a monk so he doesn't know what to do. We're trying to comfort him but it's hard when your family wants you to do something.

-Landlord isn't interested in our message but he always comes and talks to us when we head out for the day. His house is right next to ours.

-Yeah, everything electric works here too.

- We-mail President Johnson every week just to update him on how we're doing. I write about things I liked from the scriptures, my companion, and how the work is going.

-Lately I've been reading my scriptures in Thai and memorizing the "How to Begin Teaching" points in PMG. And just talking to people and listening helps me to learn the language too.

-I've been focusing on faith a lot this week. With faith we can accomplish anything. Faith prompts us to act and we usually don't receive miracles until after our faith is tried. Trials come so we can show our faith in god and He is always right there to help us when we need Him.

Sorry didn't answer all the questions this week but my internet time is up! Miss you all tons and love you all! I can feel the prayers and help you send so thank you!
